Lunar Eclipse

Yesterday there was a Lunar eclipse, but alas I was unable to see it due to clouds early in the evening.

I’d found a good location, a hill in Richmond Park with low horizons in the easterly direction where the Moon was to rise, but alas at the time of the eclipse there was thick cloud. However, the clouds began to thin and through gaps the partially eclipsed Moon could be seen, as in this photo.

The clouds continue to part as the Earth’s shadow moved across the Moon’s surface, a bit like this:

It was a great demonstration of the Earth being located in space, interacting with the Moon.

We humans will be going back there in the next few years, hopefully!

And then the likes of Tom and Sophia can explore the world of Selenium…
